Stupid header!

My header won't shrink to fit like it is supposed to. Any suggestions of what I am doing wrong?

Pics of the kiddos

I was so excited to get a new washing machine - ah, the simple things in life that make me happy. Ours was about to shake itself to pieces, poor thing. The kids, too, thought that a new washer was the coolest thing ever; but more for the box than anything. It quickly became the perfect sized house. Alyssa spent two days decorating and coloring it. She even hung pictures of her cousins inside and drew an oven and a chair. In these pictures Buggy is over for "a visit."

Buggy is one of my most enthusiastic piano students.

Buggy's first Oreo. Stupid mommy, I gave it to him in the car. He loved it though.

For Christmas, we, I mean, Santa gave Beastie an animal doctor kit. That's what she wants to be when she grows up. She found these glasses that came with it yesterday and has been wearing them since. I think they are hilarious. She tells me that she can see at school and at other people's houses, but here at home she can't see without her glasses. She's weird, but we love her to pieces!

Buggy's new glossies!

B just turned six months and is soooooo cute! I decided I'd better get my act together and take some pictures:

I just like this one because of his static-y hair:

McGill Weirdness

Some of my family members have been wanting to see pics of my crazy-weird house. They've heard about it, but never seen it. I am the queen of procrastinators and, although we've lived here since June, am just now getting to it.

Just to preface this post: McGill was built up in 1910 and is considered a semi-ghost town. Yup, I'm a semi-ghost. It was built solely as a mining town and there was a smelter above the town. The Nevada Mining Company built all these houses for their employees. There are some super nice mansions that were built for the mining executives, but mine is not one of those. Rumor has it that the company built all the houses at the same time, one room at a time. They are all put together weird. My house has been rebuilt (rather badly) and is actually one of the nicer ones in this weird semi-ghost town. They are all pretty darn small. If my house looks cluttered, that's because it is! There is no room for anything.

Here's my house:

This is the front room from the front door.

Front room from the kitchen:

Beastie's room is next to that bookcase on the left. But, honestly, you don't want to see it. It is filthy! It's pretty little living room.
Hopes and dreams:
Paint! The entire house is painted white and I hate it! It's so hard to keep clean. It's bright, but not warm.

Kitchen from my couch:

We have this nice big kitchen, that is such a waste of space! There is hardly any storage.

Hopes and dreams:
We are going to get rid of that hutch monstrosity and instead put a bookcase by the fridge.
I want to add an island or something.
We are also going to close off that wall behind the microwave and close off the area where the washer and dryer are.
It looks like the previous owners had had a spackle fight so the floor never looks clean. I want new tile or linoleum.
There are a total of two plug ins in the entire kitchen! There is one by the toaster and one behind the fridge. The microwave is plugged in behind the dryer and the oven is plugged in behind the TV in the living room. Must...have...more...plug-ins.
The fan has no light and that corner is dark so we have to add a light.

This picture shows the weirdness of two of the bedrooms. Beastie's is off the living room, Buggy's and ours are off the kitchen. The table doesn't really fit. It's so weird.

Buggy's room from the kitchen. Yup, that door is to the bathroom.

Buggy's room from the bathroom. His room is basically a glorified hallway.

Hopes and dreams:
I've gotta get the piano out of there!!!! We want to move it where the ugly hutch is.
We also want to paint it light blue and then decorate with airplanes.

The bathroom:

Hopes and dreams:
I really want to get a new tub.
I also want a bigger mirror above the sink. This one is a bit too high and I can barely see myself.

The master bedroom from the bathroom:

Yeah, the only way to get to the bathroom is through one of the bedrooms. Talk about inconvenient!!! Plus it scares me to death when Beastie suddenly appears in our room because she has to go to the bathroom.

The front of the house:

Hopes and dreams:
New siding!
Get rid of the ugly trees.
Grow grass.
We are going to let a creeper take over the chain link fence to add a bit of privacy. Chain link is tacky.
We are going to grow some tall trees along the wood fence because from the road that fence is about 2 feet tall.

This is the backyard from Buggy's room. It's big.

From the back:

Hopes and dreams:
We are going to put a garden and a shed here, not this back corner but the other one.
We want to add a back patio.
TREES!!
So, we have a cute, little, weird house. We like it because it is ours, but it is weird. The weirdest things are the bathroom and it doesn't have a foundation and to get under the house there is a trap door thingy through the porch. We store stuff down there. The water heater and furnace are down there. It's weird.
As my ma says, the house has a lot of potential. C'mon tax returns!
